Terms of Reference

  1. The Canadian Animal Germplasm Technical Experts Board (CAGTEB) supports the Canadian Steering Committee on Animal Germplasm by providing written assessments of proposals for conservancy, technical guidelines and protocols, strategies, program direction, priorities and such other issures as the Steering Committee may determine.

  2. The Canadian Animal Germplasm Technical Experts Board independently brings forward to the Steering Committee, issues that require resolution.

  3. Membership in the Canadian Animal Germplasm Technical Experts Board will consist of leading Canadian Experts from industry and other private and public sectors in relevant scientific disciplines and conservancy.

  4. The Director, Centre for Food and Animal Research, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada selects and appoints the members of Canadian Animal Germplasm Technical Experts Board who will serve a three-year term.

  5. Canadian Animal Germplasm Technical Experts Board members choose from amongst themselves a Chairperson. The Centre for Food and Animal Research provides secretariat function to the Canadian Animal Germplasm Technical Experts Board.

  6. The Canadian Animal Germplasm Technical Experts Board Secretariat acts as the contact point for individuals and organizations wishing to have an input to conservancy and/or requesting decisions from the Canadian Animal Germplasm Technical Experts Board.
